Fattaey and Price win 2011-12 Marsh O'Neill Awards

The Marsh O'Neill Award for 2011-12 was presented to Heideh Fattaey, executive director of operations and programs at Bio-X, and Bettye Price, administrative services manager of the Biology Department. This award recognizes excellence in the support of Stanford's research mission.

Gravity Probe B confirms two Einstein theories
Stanford and NASA researchers have confirmed two predictions of Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity. Gravity Probe B used ultra-precise gyroscopes to measure the geodetic effect (the warping of space and time around a gravitational body), and frame-dragging (the amount a spinning object pulls space and time with it as it rotates).
Association of American Universities comments on US export controls
The AAU's Export Controls Task Force issued a statement commending the Obama administration's approach to export control reforms. This Task Force is led by Stanford President John Hennessy. See also Stanford University Export Controls site.
