LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
If you are new to the community, here for the summer, or just ready to become involved in your parish, consider becoming involved in the liturgical ministries of the church. You could serve as an altar server, greeter, lector, eucharistic minister, or music minister. There is training available for all these ministries. It’s a wonderful way to enter into a fuller life of the church. For info, contact Teresa (tpleins@stanford.edu).

INFANT BAPTISMS
The Infant baptisms for the Catholic Community at Stanford for the quarter will be on Sunday, July 27, during the 4:30 p.m. Mass, and following. There will be a preparation session for the baptisms on Saturday, July 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Annex, 1565 Stanford Ave. (on the corner of Stanford and Bowdoin). Those who are first time parents or who have never been through a Catholic baptismal preparation need to attend the session. Godparents are also asked to attend either here or at their own parishes’ baptism preparation programs.
As a way of making the preparation more personal, parents should also make an appointment with Teresa Pleins (tpleins@stanford.edu) between now and July 18. Those parents who have already gone through baptism preparation just need to let her know about their child, and give her the information necessary for the baptismal register. Thank you very much!

PRAYER REQUEST
Please pray for Dora Larrain, mother of Mary Jo Calle from our community. She is very ill and Mary Jo is with her in Illinois.

OPPOSE TORTURE
Stop Outsourcing Torture: Tell Jeppesen TORTURE IS WRONG - SILENT VIGIL Thursday, June 26, 5-6pm (the anniversary of the date when the Convention Against Torture went into effect). San Jose based Jeppesen Dataplan, a Boeing subsidiary, has been accused of providing logistics for the CIA “Torture Flights” - flying prisoners to countries where there are substantial grounds for believing that they will be in danger of being tortured. The U.S. Justice Department intervened in the lawsuit against Jeppesen, claiming that state secrets would be revealed if the lawsuit were allowed to go ahead. To commemorate the week in June 1987 when the United Nations Convention Against Torture went into effect, join the Council of Churches of Santa Clara County for these 2 events at the Jeppesen Office at 225 W. Santa Clara St., San Jose. Remember: TORTURE IS A MORAL ISSUE.
