CCAS SUMMER SCHEDULE BEGINS
This week we begin our summer weekday schedule:

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
If you are new to the community, here for the summer, or just ready to become involved in your parish, consider becoming involved in the liturgical ministries of the church. You could serve as an altar server, greeter, lector, eucharistic minister, or music minister. There is training available for all these ministries. It’s a wonderful way to enter into a fuller life of the church. For info, contact Teresa (tpleins@stanford.edu).

INFANT BAPTISMS
Our community celebrates baptisms for registered members of the parish, students, faculty, staff, and post-docs. The Infant baptisms for the Catholic Community at Stanford for the summer session will be on Sunday, July 27, during the 4:30 p.m. Mass, and following. There will be a preparation session for the baptisms on Saturday, July 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Annex, 1565 Stanford Ave. (on the corner of Stanford and Bowdoin). Those who are first time parents or who have never been through a Catholic baptismal preparation need to attend the session. Godparents are also asked to attend either here or at their own parishes’ baptism preparation programs.
All interested parents should contact Teresa Pleins (tpleins@stanford.edu) between now and July 18. Those parents who have already gone through baptism preparation just need to contact her and give her the information necessary for the baptismal register.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT ST. ANTHONY’S SOUP KITCHEN
The Catholic Community at Stanford is committed to serving the needy, elderly and homeless at St. Anthony’s Soup Kitchen in Menlo Park. If you are interested in volunteering on Saturday July 5th or Saturday July 12th from 8:30am to 1:00pm, please contact Peter Barling (peter_barling@hotmail.com) to have a volunteer position reserved for you.

FAMILY GIVING TREE: BACK-TO-SCHOOL BACKPACKS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN
The Catholic Community at Stanford is committed to serving the needy children who live in the four Bay Area Counties. There are 227,826 children living in this area who are enrolled in the California Free or Reduced Lunch Program (Title I). In 2007, together with volunteers from the Catholic Community at Stanford, The Family Giving Tree helped 15,000 low-income children in the Title I program by providing them with a new backpack containing tools they need to succeed in school. If you would like to participate in this backpack project on Saturday August 9th from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm, please contact Peter Barling (peter_barling@hotmail.com). We will be working in a large warehouse collecting, stuffing and sorting backpacks for distribution to low-income students via teachers and social service agencies. Transportation from campus can be arranged. Families with young children are welcomed to bring their children to help with this project!
