News:

  • Submissions have opened for Volume 15. The submissions deadline is February 28th, 2008. More information is available on our "submit" page.
  • The first round of rejections has been sent out for Volume 14. At this point, we are rejecting papers on a rolling basis. We aim to send acceptance letters by mid-November so that Volume 14 can be published in December.
  • If you are a Stanford student interested in joining the Dualist this year, please email The.Dualist@gmail.com with the subject line "New Dualist Member." We will add your email to the Dualist list.
The Dualist is a national undergraduate philosophy journal published by Stanford University undergraduates. Its purpose is to offer students an opportunity to participate in a normally inaccessible part of academic life -- the production and publication of papers for general philosophical readership. Established in 1993, The Dualist has since become the most renowned and prestigious undergraduate philosophy journal in the U.S., featuring thoughtful articles authored by undergraduates around the world.
Each year, The Dualist publishes quality undergraduate papers in philosophy. We accept submissions every January and print the journal during the late summer. The Dualist is distributed to philosophy departments across the nation, and archived copies of recent issues are also available online.
In addition, The Dualist works closely with the Undergraduate Philosophy Association to plan various undergraduate events, including our annual spring conference. If you are a student at Stanford and are interested in further involving yourself with the UPA, please attend any of our informal luncheons, faculty talks, or meetings.
