4 THE STICK

The stick:
-
a. flat face on its left-hand side only; the face is the whole of
the flat side and that part of the handle for the whole of the
length which is above the flat side

b. rounded side is the remainder for the whole of the length of the
stick

c. head (i.e. the part below the lower end of the splice or join)
must be curved, of wood and not edged with or have any insets,
fittings of any other substance, nor shall there be any sharp edges
or dangerous splinters

d. maximum length of the curved head of the stick, as measured from
the lowest part of the flat face, shall not exceed 4 inches; must
have rounded edges

e. total weight: minimum 12 ounces, maximum 28 ounces

f. size, inclusive of any covering, to pass through a ring having an
interior diameter of 5.10 centimetres.

The stick has had a traditional shape and this will be retained. A
stick with a deviation of up to 2 centrimetres from either edge of
the face of the handle shall be acceptable. No particular design has
been approved but introduction of new, more extreme shapes will not
be permitted.
