What does The Lord require of us? Whole Gospel Discipleship - loving mercy and doing justice

Alexia Salvatierra

Many students are seeking a Jesus who transforms the world. How do we show them the full Jesus and teach the whole gospel discipleship he requires of his followers? The conference will focus on practical ways to teach and practice loving mercy and doing justice in a way that is deeply rooted on our faith.

Our speaker, Rev Alexia Salvatierra is currently the Special Assistant to the Bishop for Welcoming Congregations for the Southwest California Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She is the author of Faith-Rooted Organizing (IVP 2014), and her work and expertise is in building Christian advocacy movements for economic and social justice. Over this weekend, she will share with us her model of advocating for justice using Christian principles, as well as help us to explore personally what we can each do to respond to God's call on our lives to do justice.

A video of what Alexia shared at IV's National Staff Conference 2014 can be seen here.

Note: we will also be taking up an offering during the retreat for the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES).
