Women's Self-Defense Workshop

Workshop Time & Location:

Saturday, February 9th, 2013

Workshop: 9:30am - 11:30am

The workshop is held at the Burnham Pavilion

The Burnham Pavilion is located at the corner of Serra & Galvez. Directions are available from: [campus map]   [google map] Enter through the front doors of the Ford Center across to the Arillaga Center for Sports and Recreation, go straight down the hallway to the gym at the back of the building. Look for the people with the black uniforms (gis).

Workshop Synopsis:

The workshop will provide an introduction to basic techniques for self-defense and awareness. The student will have opportunities to participate and practice with others in a safe and supportive group environment.

Our workshop is unique. It allows participants to practice full-force self-defense on actual people. Our club members put on full protective gear and let participants really hit them. Participants see what a real life situation is like and that they have the strength to fight back.

Goals of the Workshop:

To empower women by giving them the skills to defend themselves effectively in a variety of scenarios.

Who Should Come

Any and all women (of any age) without prior martial arts experience are welcome to come!

Signing up is in no way required, but it helps us get an idea of how many people to expect. If you also give us your email while signing up, we'll send you a reminder a few days before the workshop.

Fee:

Free with your SU ID!
Individuals without a Stanford University ID may also attend. The fee is $10. You may bring a friend for free.

What to Bring:

Come dressed in sweats or comfortable clothes and sneakers. Bring drinking water.
