SINGAPOREANS AT STANFORD
CONSTITUTION
Article I. Name of Organisation
The organization is named Singaporeans at Stanford.
Article II. Statement of Purpose
Based on common background or interest in Singapore's culture and socio-economic issues, the association will
- Provide services and hold activities for the Singaporean community at Stanford
- Promote understanding of Singapore culture & awareness of its socio-economic issues
Article III. Eligibility for Membership
All Stanford students, faculty and staff who share the objectives outlined in the Statement of Purpose are eligible to join as registered members.
Article IV. Officers
- Titles and responsibilities
- Chairperson. Charts the direction for the association and liaises with other on- and off-campus organization and offices
- Secretary. Handles the paperwork and minutes, and acts as the club's historian
- Treasurer. Manages financial affairs
- Publication Coordinator. Handles matters related to publication, manages books and videos collection
- Recreation Coordinator. Organizes games and other recreational activities
- Ordinary committee members (2). Provide active support to the office holders
- Elections and Removal Process:
All registered members are eligible to stand as candidates. Officers will be elected during AGM or EOGM attended by at least 50% of the members. Nominations will be through e-mail and/or from the floor during the meeting. Candidates will be elected with a simple majority or on walkover.
Removal of individual committee members or the entire committee will be effected with a vote of 2/3 of the members. - Length of Term
There will be no limit on the number of terms that a committee member can serve provided he/she is elected at each election.
The organization can only be dissolved with the approval of 2/3 of the members.
- Disposition of Uncommitted Funds: Uncommitted funds will go to the Bechtel International Center upon the dissolution of the association.
- Disposition of Property: The associationšs property will go to the Bechtel International Center upon the dissolution of the association.
This would require the approval of 50% of the members. Electronic mail will be considered a valid channel for seeking approval.
