Attendance

Please note that attendance will be taken at all mandatory events, so please make sure you sign in with our officers. In order to keep track of all attendance related issues, please address all potential event absences or any attendance inquires to tbp.stanford@gmail.com.

Requirements

There are 6 main requirements to be initiated as a member of Tau Beta Pi: 

1. Attend an Orientation Session
2. Complete 50 points under the points system (below)
3. Attend the Initiation Ceremony
4. Attend the Initiation Banquet
5. Pay a one-time, lifetime membership fee of $65
6. Submit your resume for the TBP Resume Book to tbp.stanford@gmail.com

The Points System

Each candidate is expected to complete 50 points.
Different categories of events are worth a varying number of points, roughly:

• Orientation BBQ: 15 points
• Corporate points
• Other (TBP Office Hours, events hosted by a partner group): 1-5

Ideally, a candidate would complete one event from each category, so that he or she can be exposed to the range of events that Tau Beta Pi has to offer. However, we know that due to scheduling conflicts, that may not be possible.

The only constraint for the points system is that 10 of the 50 points must be from service. While academic success is important to being a part of Tau Beta Pi, we also value good character in our members. The service requirement can be fulfilled with many small projects worth a few points each or one large project worth the full 10 points.
