Laura Harrison, Ed.D.
Assistant Dean and Director
lauramh@stanford.edu

I came to Stanford in 2000 to direct the Women's Community Center and have been inspired by the vision, hard work, and dedication of this community ever since. I truly believe in the idea that the full enfranchisement of women is key to solving most of the problems facing the world, and being a part of this work has been a great privilege. My academic interests focus on how individuals can affect change in organizations (the topic of my dissertation and current book in process). When I'm not working, I enjoy swimming, the theater, and hanging out with my partner, Stephanie, and dog, Chopstick.

Faith Kazmi
Associate Director
fkazmi@stanford.edu

Hello, I'm the Associate Director of the Women's Community Center, and work closely with women's student organizations, graduate women's programming, and the Stanford Women's Leadership Conference. The critical thinking and conversations that emerge in the center regarding the intersections of identity, feminism, social justice, and leadership consistently inspire me in my work here.  Outside of the WCC I'm also passionate about travel, creativity, leadership, cooking, volleyball, and spending time with family and friends.  In my other role as doctoral student at the University of San Francisco, my research interest examines the influence of international service experiences on student identity, leadership, and ethical action -- so if you've traveled, I'd love to hear about your adventures abroad!

Irene Onyeneho
Graduate Program Coordinator
Biology, 3rd Year Ph.D. student
ireneo@stanford.edu

I think the women's center is a great space for Stanford women of all ages. Being a grad student can be difficult, I mean, everyone here is too young to remember all my favorite old TV shows, like Thirtysomething and Head of the Class, or can relate to my obsession with New Kids on the Block. Come by the women's center, I'd love to meet you and talk about chromosomes.

Lori Flores
Graduate Program Co-Coordinator
Ph.D Candidate, Department of History
laflores@stanford.edu

I'm a 5th year Ph.D. candidate in history specializing in 20th century Mexican American labor, gender and civil rights history. I have taught classes in feminist studies, women's history, and U.S. history, and have published articles and book reviews on Mexican Americans' legal and labor struggles in the Southwest. This is my 4th year serving as one of the WCC's Graduate Programming Coordinators. With each academic year I learn new things about developing academic and social programs for Stanford's community of graduate women, and always feel grateful to be among diverse and accomplished women, including my fellow WCC staff members. I am particularly passionate about providing a welcoming space on campus for grad women of color to connect across departments, feel supported, and thrive in academia.

Amy Herbertson
Sexual Assault Prevention Program Coordinator
Urban Studies, class of 2011
aherbtsn@stanford.edu

Hi! I am a junior majoring in Urban Studies with a concentration in Social Entrepreneurship. I am especially interested in the potential of women across the world to bring about massive, positive change, given economic and educational empowerment--aka: the girl effect (look it up). I am very excited to work at the WCC as the Sexual Assault Prevention Coordinator. I plan to bring awesome programming to campus so be on the look-out. I am also looking forward to working with the other strong advocates of sexual assault prevention on campus, including MAAN, the Vagina Monologues Committee, and the Center for Relationship Abuse Awareness. I believe in working together with the WCC staff and other women's interests groups on campus to bring a unified message to Stanford's campus: Sexual Violence is an issue that affects us all, Men and Women. It is an issue we ALL must take ownership of and it is time we join hands, raise our voices, and STOP RAPE.

Sarah Lee
WVSO and Outreach Coordinator
Human Biology, Class of 2010
sarahlee@stanford.edu

My name is Sarah Lee and I am a senior majoring in Human Biology with an Area of Concentration in Women's Health. I am excited to work at the WCC this year with so many inspiring and awesome women. I love to travel and spent most of my junior year abroad. After graduating from Stanford, I would like to pursue degrees in medicine and public health and practice primary care, catering to women and children. Hailing from the great city of Seattle, I love to drink coffee, sing in the rain and explore the outdoors through hiking, running, and backpacking.

Sonja Swenson
Women's Leadership Conference Co-Coordinator
Human Biology, class of 2012
sonjas1@stanford.edu

Hello! My name is Sonja, and I am a sophomore considering majors in Human Biology and History. This year I am working with Nimi to coordinate the Stanford Women's Leadership Conference in April. We are planning a conference focused on themes of imagination, innovation, and resourcefulness, and I am so excited to see what the creative minds of Stanford women will bring to the discussion this year. In my free time, I love painting, experimenting with new recipes, writing stories, making cards and designing earrings. I also love to run and bicycle in the beautiful California weather, wander the streets of San Francisco with my two sisters, explore random film festivals and travel internationally. I feel so grateful to be a part of such a passionate, conscientious, talented community of women here at the WCC, and I'm really looking forward to the year ahead!

Nimi Mastey
Women's Leadership Conference Co-Coordinator
Human Biology, class of 2010
nimi@stanford.edu

I'm so excited to be working at the WCC with such amazing and intimidatingly intelligent (in a great way) women! Although I was born in So-Cal, I've spent my entire life in the East Bay and "hella" (i don't actually say this except to annoy) enjoy it. Right now, I'm interested in issues of sex differences in health research, as well as the topic of aging and self-empowerment. I also love the people, food, universities, and streets of Delhi (and India in general) and plan on spending a good deal of my life there (as well as here, in California, on a strawberry field perhaps). I hope to write and make a difference in women's health. Besides all that, I like juice, veggie pizza (sans mushrooms), plain tart fro-yo, and good indie-folk/hip-hop music.

Dong-Nghi Huynh
Herstory and Internship Program Coordinator
Management Science and Engineering, class of 2012
dnhuynh@stanford.edu

I moved from Vietnam to the United States when I was seven years old. Since then, I've worked with many non-profits throughout Southeast Asia, both in the medical and social fields. My experiences at home and abroad have deeply impressed upon me the importance of the fight for universal sexual equality. I hope to use the WCC's resources to reach out to the wider community and express the universality of feminism today as a deeply personal aspect of women's independence and strength in taking charge of their lives. I have great love for creative writing, the arts, whales, women'€™s empowerment and traveling. Hopefully during my time with the WCC, I can combine the majority of these interests with our mission. Looking forward to a great Herstory Month, April 2010!

Katrin Larsen
Academic and NSO Coordinator
East Asian Studies, Class of 2011
kalarsen@stanford.edu

Hi! I'm Katrin, and I'm the NSO and Academic Coordinator for this year! I'm a junior studying East Asian Studies with an economics minor, so if you're interested in those fields feel free to come talk to me! I'm also passionate about women's issues and I hope to introduce lots of interesting faculty and faculty research over the course of this year. I love to read old Japanese literature and Jane Austen novels in my spare time. I look forward to meeting lots of cool people and hanging out at the WCC this year!

Ciara Segura
Women at Work Program Coordinator
Feminist Studies, class of 2010
segura.ciara@gmail.com

I am a Senior majoring in Feminist Studies and minoring in Education. This is my first year on staff with the Women's Center, so I'm going to do my best to bring something new and compelling to the staff. My main goal is to make women's issues in their professional and personal lives both visible and meaningful to the broader Stanford community. Lately, I've been musing over the institution and meaning of marriage, sex work, and the integration of gender/sexuality in schools. Most of the time, however, I'm usually just thinking about food, cooking, and/or eating. While I'm sure I'll be working on women's issue for the rest of my life, my big fantastical dream is to either cook in or own a fabulous restaurant that provides delicious, affordable, and sustainable food to all sorts of people. In a nutshell, I live for feminism, food, and justice.

Aleah Robbins
Publicity & Tech Coordinator
Urban Studies, class of 2011
aleahr@stanford.edu

Hello everyone! I am super excited to be working at the Women's Community Center this year and have it become the place that I call 'home' on this campus. I am originally from Philadelphia, but I've always had California in my heart. I love listening to music, writing poetry, and thinking of creative ways to make the things we use everyday more effective. I have huge passions for cooking, human rights, diversity and fun in my life. Outside of the WCC, I am one of the captains of Stanford Cheerleading and a proud sister of Sigma Theta Psi Multicultural Sorority.
