 Pamela Hakl Economos serves
as Principal Oboe of the Symphony Silicon Valley and the
Ballet San Jose. She also performs oboe and English horn
in the Opera San Jose
orchestra. She served as
Principal
Oboe in the San Jose Symphony from 1980 until it
ceased operation in 2002.
During this time she has been featured as a soloist in concertos by Albinoni, Bach,
Haydn, Mozart and Hummel. In addition to her responsibilities in San Jose, Ms. Hakl has performed
with the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Opera, and the San Francisco Ballet.
She has participated in some of our nations most prestigious music festivals,
including the Berkshire Music Festival at
Tanglewood, the Aspen Music Festival, the
Colorado Music Festival in Boulder, and the Colorado Philharmonic.
Ms. Hakl has been on the faculty of the School of Music
at San Jose State University and Morehead State
University in Kentucky. She also has a private oboe studio. Her
students have gone on to leading music schools and have won orchestra
positions nationally and internationally.
Ms. Hakl received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music with Highest
Distinction from the Indiana University School of Music where she studied with Jerry
Sirucek. She has also studied with Ray Still of the Chicago Symphony, Robert Bloom of the
NBC Symphony, and Marc Lifschey of the Cleveland Orchestra. |
