Leaving Red Lodge
Day 12

Awake at 6:30 a.m. I'm expecting to hear Yellowstone Kelly's generator. Julie is also awake. Most of the usual "up and out" group is already at the small restaurant down the street.

Gordon recommends the blueberry pancakes, but suggests ordering only one pancake. "I ordered two, and they're winning." I take his advice, and even then, it wins.

He also arranges for a group catch the 10:30 a.m. Airport Shuttle to Billings, 60 miles away.

Soon it's noon. Diane is ready to hijack the bus -- she has a 1 p.m. flight. At 12:15 p.m. we pull into the airport. Diane flies off the bus, grabs her luggage and sprints for the Delta counter. She has time to spare for her flight.

Gordon and I have lunch and board a small prop jet for Salt Lake City, ending the trip as we began -- seatmates on Delta Airlines.
