California blue-eyed grass
(Sisyrichium bellum)
Note:
Almost every aspect of this plants name seems to be anomalous.
1) The flower is purple, not blue.
2) The eye is yellow, not blue.
3) It is an iris, not a grass.
4) The genus (though this etymology is controversial), may refer to pig-nose.
5) But, yes, the California species is pretty - bellum.
