Because the Portuguese Language Program is in the process of instituting a formal placement test, students registering for the first time in a first- or second-year course must see the coordinator for proper placement if they have had any prior training in Portuguese. Certain Portuguese classes count towards a major in Spanish, and all count for a minor in Portuguese. Consult the "Spanish and Portuguese" section of this bulletin or http://span-port.stanford.edu for further information. Language courses may not be repeated for credit and must be taken in sequence.
